Centra Care and Support provide refuge accommodation for up to 70 women and their children who are at risk of domestic abuse, at a number of refuge services across Kent and Medway. This includes a specialist BME refuge for women.
Centra Care and Support currently manage 9 refuge services in Kent and also a floating support service in Medway.
We accept referrals from women aged 16+ and from all over the country. We are currently unable to support women with no recourse to public funds or women from the local area to the refuge.
Male referrals are not accepted but we are able to take women with male children up to the age of 15.
Our refuges are classed as temporary homeless accommodation and women can stay for up to 2 years before moving on safely.
When a woman has been accepted into refuge, we support applicants to travel to refuge, often working with other agencies to ensure they remain safe.
With a Supported Housing Officer, we work with residents to identify risk through a risk assessment and complete a support plan to work towards goals identified.
We have crèche facilities at some our refuges and access to adult and child counselling.
